Our curriculum

Tenby National Primary School follows the Malaysian National Primary School Standard Curriculum (KSSR) for ages 7 to 12 (Standard 1 to 6). With UPSR phased out, school-based assessments are now central. This means more focus on meaningful projects, practical work, and activities that test students’ understanding and abilities, moving away from rote memorisation. KSSR is designed for the 21st century, preparing students with skills like leadership, bilingual proficiency, ethics, and competitiveness - qualities that will help them thrive.

Our choice of 60 co-curricular activities as part of our C.A.S.E (Creativity, Action, Service and Enrichment) programme helps students pursue their passions, build friendships, and develop a strong sense of identity and community.

Student leadership opportunities

At our International School in Ipoh, we offer a variety of child leadership roles that encourage students to take responsibility, build confidence, and develop essential teamwork and communication skills. Further afield

We love planning exciting experiences for our primary students. Throughout the year, we arrange delightful day trips to fascinating places, enriching our students' learning outside the traditional classroom setting. In the past our primary students have enjoyed trips to the National Museum in Kuala Lumpur, day trips to Saloma Grape Vineyard, Dim Sum workshops and a particular highlight is the sleepover in the school during Standards 1 to 4. These educational trips are not only great fun but also a valuable opportunity for students to strengthen friendships and develop independence. These trips create lasting memories and important learning opportunities outside the classroom.

House communities

Our campus-wide House System gives every child the chance to shine beyond the classroom, earning House Points for their talents in sports, environmental projects, community service, and creative pursuits. With four vibrant house groups - Chimera, Hydra, Cerberus, and Typhon - there's a place for every unique skill and passion. Which house will your child join?

Next steps

At the end of the Primary school journey students can choose to continue their education at Sekolah Sri Tenby under the Malaysian National Curriculum for their Secondary years or opt to join Tenby International School to work towards their IGCSE exams. Both pathways are designed to support your child's academic growth and future success.
