Keeping our boarding students safe

Students’ safety and emotional well-being are our top priorities at the International School in Ipoh and the Boarding House. A dedicated Safeguarding Team, including a Designated Safeguarding Lead (DSL) and Counsellor, is in place to provide tailored support and oversee safeguarding efforts across both the school and Boarding House.

Counselling services

Boarders have access to counselling services, offering a confidential, supportive space to discuss concerns. Both students and parents can refer for support, with the option for self-referral by the student. Parents who feel their child would benefit from additional support can reach out to the House Parent or arrange an appointment with our DSL or Counsellor. Our aim is to ensure every student feels listened to and supported.

Student Support Services

Our student supports include teachers who help with the EAL (English as an Additional Language), Learning Support, Counselling support and In Loco Parentis support. For boarders whose first language is not English, boarders would be timetabled to attend EAL classes during school hours to develop their English language proficiency thus supporting their main subjects and building their confidence to live and study in an English-speaking environment.

The support team recognise and values differences in individuals, believing that when boarders develop a sense of respect, they can make wise choices regarding their individual paths to success, develop their full potential, and maximise their own abilities in their learning journey.
