Sixth Form

The Sixth Form at Tenby Schools Ipoh consists of two years of study (Year 12 & Year 13) and is a springboard for students – whether originally from Tenby International School, Sekolah Sri Tenby or outside the Tenby Schools family – to embark on further studies in their field of choice at university level. With the internally recognised A Level and AS Level programme from Cambridge International Examinations, we are proud that most of our students enter their preferred local or international renowned universities after graduating with us. With the support and guidance of the ISP Future Pathways Team, our students receive personalised support from in-house counsellors & Unifrog, an online platform where you can explore your interests and discover your next steps after school and college.

The success of our Sixth Form programme is due to a superior learning environment that provides personal attention while encouraging independent, mature decision making. From Day One, students are guided towards a personalised and manageable curriculum that reflects their interests and ambitions. Teachers are on hand to guide and mentor them in their choices and their studies, but the onus is placed on students themselves to take ownership of their development.

Independence is further supported through a dedicated Sixth Form Centre, which students can use at any time when they do not have a class scheduled.

Academically, Sixth Form students can choose from a wide range of courses including:

  • Art & Design
  • Biology
  • Business Studies
  • Chemistry
  • Information Technology
  • Drama
  • Economics
  • English Language
  • English Literature
  • Further Mathematics
  • Geography
  • History
  • Physics
  • Mathematics
  • Music
  • Music Technology
  • Psychology

With each course, small class sizes give teachers the chance to delve deeper into course material, and offer additional reading and guidance to outstanding students. The more collegiate nature of Sixth Form also means that students benefit from having more adult relationships with their teachers and classmates, aiding their growth as empowered, well-rounded young adults.

Just as in Secondary, our aim is to mould students who have softer characteristics and attributes necessary to both compete against high academic achievers worldwide and make the most of their time in university and beyond. Our teachers are guided by the ‘Tenby Learner Profile’, which outlines 10 attributes that empower students to be successful in whatever they choose to do in life.

A Tenby Learner is...

Responsible
An Effective Communicator
Resilient
Compassionate
Confident
Interdependent
Resourceful
Internationally Minded
Reflective
Inquisitive

Aside from helping Sixth Form students stand apart from others, we want to give them a language in which they can articulate the attributes they have learnt and developed. With the knowledge of the ways in which they have grown, and how they have done so, our Sixth Formers know that anything is possible with the right application, dedication and perseverance.
