There is no elevator to success; you have to take the stairs

"My memories of Tenby date back to when I began my A Levels as a SiWu scholar in Cohort 10 – the largest cohort at the time. I keenly remember all my teachers being extremely supportive of the progress I made and always being willing to go the extra mile to explain a concept until I thoroughly understood it. As a result, my confidence soared and I relished all my lessons.

Spurred on by my results, I applied for medicine at both local and foreign universities, hoping to gain admission. Imagine my utter amazement when I found out I had successfully obtained the prestigious RCSI-UCD Scholarship to study medicine in Ireland, at the Royal College of Surgeons in Ireland! Fast forward three years, and I’ve taken the opportunity to study an intercalated Masters in Clinical Neuroscience at the world-renowned King’s College London. Again, this opportunity would never have been possible but for the solid foundation provided by my teachers at Tenby.

For those who are currently studying towards a brighter future, I would like to share some advice with you. Firstly, never stop believing. Dreams can only be accomplished if you are willing to believe that your dreams can come to fruition. Secondly, live the life you want. Do not let your parents, teachers or friends dictate where and what you should pursue for your career. They can offer practical advice, but ultimately the decision should be yours to make. Thirdly, never say die. Keep fighting and soon enough, your efforts will be suitably rewarded. As the saying goes; if at first you do not succeed, try, try, and try again. Lastly, learn to accept failure. No one is successful without having made countless blunders in between. Learn from these mistakes and never repeat the same mistake twice."

"Having spent almost 13 years in Tenby Schools Ipoh, from primary school education all the way to the A Levels programme, my experiences there have played a huge part in my personal growth and development. Good teaching quality and small class sizes helped me excel academically. In particular, the Mathematics and Physics subjects in A Levels provided me a strong foundation to pursue an engineering degree, and the knowledge still serves me well in my current endeavours.

My years in Tenby were not confined to just studies within the classroom. Activities outside the classroom were varied and enjoyable. I got the opportunity to participate in a Shakespearean drama during my time in the Sixth Form and that is an experience that I will always remember. I am also honoured to have served as Deputy Head Prefect of the school towards the end of my secondary school education and as Treasurer of the Sixth Form Council.

I am now an Aerospace Engineering graduate from The University of Manchester and am currently studying for a Masters in Data Science at the University of Sydney to enhance my career prospects. My plan is to pursue a career as a data analyst or a data scientist after I graduate."

Dee spent 8 great years with Tenby Schools Ipoh & graduated in 2007. The greatest impression for Dee in Tenby is the cultural diversity, where she excelled from a rather introvert & shy girl to who she is today.

Today, Dee is an activist photographer for Perak Women for Women Society & Noah's Ark Animal Welfare. With a big heart, Dee is walking baby steps towards improving the wellbeing of society & the local strays.

Keep it up Dee, we at Tenby are supremely proud of you!

“Tenby Schools Ipoh has prepared me for tertiary education in Australia. Being a Tenby student, I had the opportunity to extend my learning beyond the classroom. I have acquired knowledge and essential life skills in Tenby Schools Ipoh.

Besides that, teachers were very dedicated and supportive towards us. They would always go that extra mile for all of us. They would also encourage us to reach our full potential. For example, I’ve had the opportunity to participate in Shakespearean drama during my time in the Sixth Form. I was rather anxious and shy to perform on stage. Teachers were really encouraging; they encouraged me to perform to the best of my ability. Little did I know, I would choose Literary Studies as one of my teaching majors. I had the opportunity to share my Shakespearean experience with my friends in university. How exciting!

Today, I am teaching English in Tenby Schools Ipoh. I believe that each student is unique and capable of doing tasks to the best of their ability. My plan is to continue my postgraduate studies to enhance my career prospects.

"I feel immensely grateful for the grades that I had achieved. It wouldn’t have been made possible without support from my teachers, Tenby Ipoh & my parents. I will bring along my accomplishments and lessons learnt to face my future challenges."

"Transitioning from Sekolah Tenby to Tenby International School and skipping a year and 3 months was a very challenging, yet rewarding learning experience. It taught me a lot of values about persistence, being strategic, and navigating through uncertainties in life, which has definitely helped me in the future."

"I am extremely thankful for the learning environment & teachers at Tenby, leading me to where I am today. I will be going to the University of Washington in Seattle, where I will further my studies in Applied Mathematics. To my juniors, always approach your teachers whenever you have doubts & do a ton of past year papers for good practice. Good luck & have fun!."

My memories of Tenby date back to when I began my CIE A-Levels as a SiWu scholar in Cohort 10 – the largest cohort at the time. The A-Levels programme is well known for its rigorousness and it would sometimes feel a bit daunting. Fortunately, all my teachers were extremely supportive of the progress I made and were always willing to go the extra mile to explain a concept until I thoroughly understood it. As a result, my confidence soared and I relished all my lessons. I finished my A2 examinations in November 2015, obtaining excellent results for my CIE A-Levels. This is a testament to the dedication and sacrifice of my teachers and for this I cannot thank them enough.
