Exploring worlds through words Â
Students are instilled with a love for reading, writing and storytelling. They develop skills in reading comprehension, creative writing, grammar and vocabulary. Through daily phonics sessions, children develop strong reading, writing, and communication skills. This approach encourages creativity by using storytelling and interactive activities to build confidence in literacy. Tenby SEH uses the Read Write Inc Phonics programme for Key Stage 1 and the Real Writing programme for Key Stage 2. This is an innovative, structured writing curriculum designed to develop strong writing skills across all stages of their education while building on critical thinking, creativity and mastery of writing.Â
Developing analytical minds Â
Our enhanced lessons encourage logical thinking and problem-solving. Learners study arithmetic, geometry and statistics, moving on to algebra and equations later. Practical activities build a solid foundation for future learning. The White Rose Maths programme offers a structured way to develop fluency, reasoning and problem-solving abilities through enjoyable activities.
Discovering the wonders of science Â
Learners study biology, chemistry and physics through hands-on experiments. They learn about living organisms, materials, forces and energy. The White Rose Science programme helps students explore the natural world through hands-on experiments and inquiry-based learning. The curriculum sparks curiosity, encouraging children to think like young scientists. Students also participate in Hamilton Science, which is a dynamic programme that engages learners through hands-on investigative activities. It empowers students to develop effective methods of scientific enquiry.
Embracing future technology Â
Students learn basic coding, digital literacy, internet safety and use latest software. They develop digital literacy and coding skills using Byte-Ed, while VEX Robotics introduces them to robotics and programming through engaging, interactive activities. These programmes help students build essential technological skills for the future.
Tuning into the rhythmÂ
Students immerse themselves in the joy of music by learning an instrument, singing and participating in stage performances. They explore boundaries of creativity, self-expression and teamwork through music. Musical instruments are taught by professional instructors during extracurricular activities.   Â
Growing togetherÂ
Personal, Social & Health Education helps understand and manage emotions, build healthy relationships and develop social skills. Students learn about mental health, physical wellbeing and their roles in the community. Â
Fitness firstÂ
Physical Education classes focus on building physical fitness, teamwork and coordination. Students participate in various sports and physical activities that promote a healthy and active lifestyle.Â
Multilingualism
Express themselvesÂ
Students express themselves creatively and develop their artistic skills by exploring a variety of mediums, including drawing, painting, sculpting and digital design through the Art and Design classes. This not only builds fine motor skills but also critical thinking, creativity and the ability to communicate visually. Students understand cultural influences on art, exploring the rich artistic traditions of both local and international cultures.Â
Emotional expression
In Drama, students are trained in foundational acting skills like voice, movement and character portrayal. Students find ways of self-expression through role-play, storytelling and improvisation.

Love of writing
At Tenby SEH, we embrace innovative learning approaches. In Early Years and Key Stage 1, Read Write Inc Phonics supports early reading and writing with engaging, structured lessons using visual, auditory, and kinaesthetic activities. Children advance through levels, becoming confident, independent readers and writers. For Years 3 to 6, ‘Real Writing’ builds strong writing skills, critical thinking and creativity. Focused on real-world communication, it encourages learners to craft meaningful content like stories and reports. Through planning, drafting, and revising, students see writing as an evolving skill, gaining confidence and ownership while mastering vocabulary, grammar and clear organisation.Â
Further afield
We love planning exciting experiences for our primary students. Throughout the year, we arrange delightful day trips to fascinating places, enriching our students' learning outside the traditional classroom setting. In the past our primary students have enjoyed trips to various educational places. These educational trips are not only great fun but also a valuable opportunity for students to strengthen friendships and develop independence.Â
