At Tenby International School Setia EcoHill, students thrive in an environment built on care, connection and community. From peer-led buddy systems to daily check-ins, every moment is designed to help students feel confident, valued and ready to lead.Â
Pastoral care at Tenby SEH isn’t just about supporting students—it’s about empowering them to take charge of their own growth. With a focus on mental fitness, emotional health and personal development, we help every child build the toolkit they need to flourish in school and beyond.
From the start, students are welcomed by their peers. Every new student is paired with a buddy to help them settle in, while our house system—Tiger, Phoenix, Falcon, and Dragon—builds belonging through shared activities and leadership opportunities. House Leaders and Tutors guide students, while inter-house competitions and events strengthen friendships and encourage teamwork.Â
Each day begins and ends with connection. Tutors check in with students to support their goals, celebrate successes, and prepare for challenges ahead. These daily sessions give students a sense of stability and a trusted space to seek guidance and encouragement.Â
Every student is unique, and we’re here to make sure they feel supported. From booster sessions for IGCSE students to EAL programmes for English learners, we personalise support to help every child succeed. Our specialist teachers and mento programme use innovative tools to ensure students stay on track, grow in confidence, and achieve their goals.Â
Our Special Education Needs (SEN) teams provides tailored support for students with unique learning needs, ensuring they feel included and confident. Whether it’s adapting lesson plans, offering one-on-one guidance, or helping with social integration, the SEN department empowers every learner to succeed academically and socially.Â
We use digital tools to track academic and wellbeing progress, ensuring every concern is addressed. Restorative Justice helps students take accountability, reflect, and make constructive decisions. With a Deputy Pastoral Leader, tutors, and teachers working together, every student gets the care they need.Â
Wellbeing is a shared responsibility. Students lead initiatives like Wellbeing & Mental Health Week, Friday fun sessions, and inter-house competitions. These activities bring energy and connection, ensuring everyone feels part of a vibrant, caring community. Additionally, our student-led Wellbeing Team ensures that everyone feels supported by identifying and addressing concerns within the school community, such as offering support to those who may feel isolated or down.Â
Our trained counsellor is always available, providing a safe space for students to talk, reflect, and seek support. Whether it’s a quick chat or ongoing care, the counsellor plays an active role in the school, ensuring every child feels heard and supported.  For more serious cases, a formal procedure ensures that the counselling process is both effective and professional.  Â
One-on-one or small group sessions help students manage personal, social, or emotional challenges with care and understanding.Â
Immediate guidance is available when students are going through difficult times, whether it’s a family crisis, bullying, or other personal struggles, ensuring students feel supported and secure.Â
Healthy peer connections are proactively encourage healthy relationships between students, addressing concerns like bullying, peer pressure, or social isolation, and promoting a positive social environment.Â
Collaborative strategies with teachers and parents support students facing behavioural challenges, keeping them on track academically and emotionally.Â
Conflicts are mediated constructively, fostering a harmonious and respectful atmosphere across the school.
We monitor student wellbeing and academic progress, ensuring real time interventions from tutors and teachers when needed.Â
Personal academic support helps students who may need extra support, due to personal challenges, overcome challenges and regain confidence, ensuring steady progress.Â
For students at risk of falling behind academically, we work with teachers and parents to create personalised intervention plans and set achievable goals to help them succeed.Â
Safeguarding and child protection policies are robust and prioritised, creating a secure and supportive environment for all students.Â
