ISP Virtual Buddy Programme

Tenby Schools Setia Eco Park is part of International Schools Partnership (ISP), a dynamic network of 45 schools in 12 different countries. This enables us to provide our students with opportunities for memorable international and cultural learning experiences across our global network.

There are three programmes that students could enjoy :

Due to COVID-19, the ISP Buddy Exchange Programme (BEP) may not seem possible, as most part of the world is in some sort of a lockdown or movement restriction. This means our students are not able to travel to other ISP schools. However, Amazing Learning will not stop and the show must go on.

Therefore, ISP has adapted this programme to become the “ISP Virtual Buddy Exchange Programme (VBEP)”. We are proud to have our students to participate in this programme, where students get to discuss on weekly topics such as Being a teenager during the lockdown, Music, Film & TV, Sports and A Tour of their city or country.

Here’s what our students have to say about their experience in VBEP.

Nariza, Sekolah Sri Tenby
I have had the amazing chance to virtually call and interact with teenagers around the world. This program has allowed me to build lifelong friendships and really broaden my horizons on international learning and also truly understanding an array of different cultural and community perspectives. Overall, it has been a fun experience and it really amazes me how teenagers around the world can relate to a lot of things although we live in different parts of the world.

Anna, Sekolah Sri Tenby
Throughout this VBEP, I’ve learnt a lot from improving my social skills to learning about things I’ve never heard of. Not only that, I was able to broaden my social circle since most of my partners are from countries in Europe and the Middle East. So it was refreshing to see new faces and relate to the same struggles that they have to go through during this quarantine. This programme gave me an opportunity and also a realisation that I should get out of my comfort zone and try to meet as many people as I could.

Hui Wen Liew, Tenby International School Secondary
Through VBEP, I got the opportunity to communicate with students from around the world and learn about their cultures, hobbies and lifestyle. It has honestly been an enjoyable experience so far as I have made some friends along the way. I also realised that even though we are from different parts of the world, many of us still shockingly share the same hobbies and favourite Netflix shows! Naturally, my communication skills have also improved drastically as I try to speak confidently and connect with others. If I get similar opportunity offered to me gain, I would definitely grasp it without hesitation as this has been incredibly beneficial and wonderful so far. With a couple of weeks left of this programme, I look forward to meet more students and share my thoughts on many interesting topics to come.

Yewon Yoo, Tenby International School Secondary

During VBEP, I get to learn cultures of other countries and shared my lifestyle and the culture here. It was a great experience as I had a chance to make new friends and also improve on my communication and presentation skills. I think it was more enjoyable for me than I expected it to be because the calls were done in a casual way rather than serious debate with heavy topics. Also, as I prepared the presentations each week, I get to learn more about myself, as I had to think back what I like and dislike. I also had the opportunity bring out my true personality every time I was preparing for the call, or even during discussions. I am looking forward to meet more people from different countries for the rest of this programme.
