Our Leadership Team

Enabling local
and global success

Our experienced teachers and staff leaders are the bedrock of our success at Tenby Schools Setia Eco Park. Across both Tenby International School and Sekolah Sri Tenby, they are the connection between philosophy and action, personalising our approach of Amazing Learning for the benefit of each and every child.

Teachers here know that they can make an impact far beyond the classroom. By instilling a school culture that places emphasis on independence and resilience, they play a key role in developing students with the attributes necessary to be successful in both work and life.

Jeff Ison
Campus Principal

Jeff graduated with a BA (Hons) in History in 2004. He has a passion for History as well as for working with young people, so a career in education was the natural choice.

After receiving his Post Graduate Certificate in Education, he spent several years teaching in England before moving to Malaysia. Jeff has been in Malaysia and Tenby for almost nine years, the past eight of which he has been a member of the Senior Leadership Team.

Despite his role as a Principal, Jeff continues to teach History in the International Secondary as he always enjoys his time in the classroom with students.

Meet our Leadership Team

Richard Smith
Head of Tenby International School, Secondary

Richard brings a wealth of knowledge, experience and dedication to our school community. With 16 years in education, his journey began as a Geography teacher in top-performing London schools, where he quickly rose to leadership positions as Head of Department and Faculty.  For the past seven years he served as Assistant Headteacher in a Lincolnshire grammar school, raising standards and student outcomes, and successfully expanding the sixth form provision.

Richard is a passionate advocate for student academic achievement. He is deeply invested in educational research in support of this, particularly meta-cognition and retrieval practice strategies. His experience implementing these concepts had a demonstrable positive impact on students’ achievement and their enjoyment of learning.

A true lifelong learner, Richard initially excelled in the field of Civil Engineering, earning a 1st Class MEng (Hons) from The University of Nottingham. After four years working in structural engineering, his passion for education led him to pursue a rewarding career change. He holds a PGCE from UCL Institute of Education in London and most recently achieved the National Professional Qualification for Headship (May 2023).

Richard believes in empowering students to step outside their comfort zones in learning and wider school experiences, to enable them to be the best version of themselves.
