Our curriculum

Our national primary education follows the Malaysian National Primary School Standard Curriculum (KSSR) for students aged 7 to 12 (Standard 1 to 6). Our students explore a wide range of subjects aimed at developing well-rounded, critical thinkers. With our Learning.Firstâ„¢ approach, we focus on personalised learning that encourages students to become independent and proactive learners. We prepare them for their first major assessment, at the end of Standard 6, ensuring a strong foundation for future success.

Mathematics

Mathematics builds foundational skills essential for developing problem-solving abilities, logical thinking, and arithmetic fluency. Through activities like puzzles and word problems, students learn to think critically and apply concepts in everyday situations. Mathematics is taught in English, focusing on core topics such as numbers, geometry, measurements, and data analysis to prepare students for more advanced concepts in later years.

Science

Science fosters a sense of curiosity and encourages students to explore the wonders of the natural world. It covers fundamental concepts in biology, chemistry and physics, with a hands-on approach that includes experiments and projects. Science lessons help students develop observational and analytical skills while learning how scientific principles apply to real-life situations. This subject is taught in English to ensure students are well-prepared for international academic standards.

Design and Technology

Design and Technology inspire students to think creatively and develop practical skills. This subject involves activities such as crafting, building models and working with simple materials to solve design challenges. Through D&T, students learn about the design process, problem-solving and teamwork, fostering innovation from a young age.

Music lessons introduce students to rhythm, instruments and composition, encouraging them to explore different forms of artistic expression. This subject plays a vital role in building confidence and emotional intelligence.

Moral Education

Moral Education focuses on developing students' character by teaching values such as honesty, respect, empathy, and good citizenship. Through discussions, role-play, and reflective activities, students learn about ethical decision-making, personal responsibility and how to contribute positively to their community.

Students participate in various sports and physical activities that promote teamwork, coordination, and discipline. They also learn about nutrition, hygiene and mental well-being, building a foundation for a healthy lifestyle.

Information and Communication Technology (ICT)

ICT introduces students to the basics of computing, including coding, internet safety and digital literacy. Students learn to use word processors, spreadsheets and multimedia tools, preparing them for the increasingly digital world. Activities like programming simple games or using robotics kits foster problem-solving and computational thinking.

Bahasa Melayu

Mastery of Bahasa Melayu is indeed fundamental in Malaysia’s education system, as it fosters proficiency in key language skills—reading, writing, speaking and comprehension. Beyond language mechanics, Bahasa Melayu courses also emphasize effective communication skills and deepening students' understanding of local culture and traditions, enabling them to appreciate and contribute meaningfully to the multicultural Malaysian society. This holistic approach to language learning supports not only academic success but also social integration and cultural awareness.

Opportunities for all

At Sekolah Sri Tenby Setia Eco Gardens, success in the primary years goes far beyond the classroom. We focus on igniting curiosity through a wide range of experiences and opportunities around campus. Students can enjoy personal development events like public speaking and social learning talks, participate in national and local competitions - such as coding, robotics, lego and engineering, sports and engage in environmental awareness activities like eco fairs and recycling. Our choice of 100 co-curricular activities help students pursue their passions, build friendships and develop a strong sense of identity and community.

Student leadership opportunities

At our school, students experience a variety of child leadership roles that encourage students to take responsibility, build confidence, and develop essential teamwork and communication skills. In the national primary school, students have the opportunity to stand for Student Council and also House Captain. Whether leading their peers in group projects, helping organise events, or representing their class, these roles help children grow into responsible, self-assured individuals ready for future challenges.

Class trips

We love planning exciting experiences for our primary students. Throughout the year, students attend delightful day trips to fascinating places, enriching their learning outside the traditional classroom setting.  There are trips and camps throughout the year along with taking part in national and local competitions.

House communities

Our whole campus House System provides students with opportunities to earn House Points for excellent behaviour/attitude and/or outstanding work or effort. New students will be assigned to a House when they are accepted to join the school – Griffin, Unicorn, Dragon, Phoenix. House points accumulate towards personalised certificates and also earn points for the student's house. Our PE department also runs regular events including Sports Week to earn House Points and promote healthy competition and community spirit!

Next steps

At the end of the Primary school journey, students take the Primary School Achievement Test (UPSR) in Standard 6, which helps set the stage for their next steps in education. From there, students can choose to continue their education at Sekolah Sri Tenby under the Malaysian National Curriculum for their Secondary years or opt to join Tenby International School to work towards their IGCSE exams. Both pathways are designed to support your child's academic growth and future success.
