International Secondary School

Age 11-16

Our International Secondary Curriculum guides students years 7-9 (Key Stage 3) and Years 10-11 (Key Stage 4) preparing them for their IGCSE exams at the end of Year 11. We follow the National Curriculum for England (NCUK) in a variety of subjects throughout the Secondary years. This stage is crucial as students begin to grow into responsible young adults. We encourage them to be resilient, ambitious, and to take ownership of their decisions, helping them build a strong foundation for their future.

Future pathways

Along with one-on-one guidance, students participate in the Annual ISP Future Pathways Festival (University Fair), Future Skills sessions and have access to the Unifrog Education platform. Students connect with Post-16 and Pre-University providers to gain insights into future studies.

Students also attend workshops where parents and students explore topics like different pathways, studying abroad and admissions. Our strong partnerships provide real-world expertise through experiences such as inspirational assemblies on career pathways, and taster days at local colleges. With these opportunities, we equip students with the knowledge and confidence to follow their dreams!

Latest technology

Students embrace innovative programs and cutting-edge technology to enhance their learning experiences. Our extensive portfolio of learning resources is designed to inspire creativity, collaboration, and critical thinking. These tools include SPARX Maths, Microsoft Office applications such as Teams, Excel, Word, Sway, Forms, OneNote, OneDrive, Outlook, SharePoint, Stream, and the powerful Copilot AI. Students also explore digital creativity with platforms like Kodu, Minecraft Education, Makecode for Microbit, and Cospaces Edu VR & AR. To make learning interactive and engaging, students will utilize tools such as Quizizz, Kahoot, Peardeck, Nearpod, Widgit, Padlet, Desmos, Geogebra and Wordwall. For coding, design, and problem-solving, students will incorporate SQLite, Clipchamp, Reflect, Quizlet, Canva, Artsteps, and PhET. Additionally, students have opportunities to share their work and ideas using Apps Blogger, fostering a dynamic and innovative learning environment.

House communities

Our whole campus House System provides students with opportunities to earn House Points for excellent behaviour/attitude and/or outstanding work or effort. New students will be assigned to a House when they are accepted to join the school – Griffin, Unicorn, Dragon, Phoenix. House points accumulate towards personalised certificates and also earn points for the student's house. Our PE department also runs regular events including Sports Week to earn House Points and promote healthy competition and community spirit!

Opportunities

We encourage our Secondary students to actively engage in the wider school community to broaden their horizons. Along with more than 100 co-curricular activities, students have many chances to step outside their comfort zone and take on responsibilities. School camps foster teamwork and camaraderie, while sports teams help build leadership and organisational skills. Students can also explore their potential through roles such as prefects, participating in musicals or dramas, joining the Student Council, and many other enriching opportunities. These experiences help them grow both socially and academically!

School trips

Throughout the year, students attend day trips to fascinating places, enriching their learning outside the traditional classroom setting. In the past our international secondary students have enjoyed trips such as Otternest Adventure Camp, Southampton University Computing Workshop, Global Model United Nations, Kuala Lumpur and a STEM trip to KL MakerSpace. These educational trips are not only great fun but also a valuable opportunity for students to strengthen friendships and develop independence. These trips create lasting memories and important learning opportunities outside the classroom.
