We are clear about the knowledge and skills students need to succeed academically. Beyond that, our school is equipped with innovative curricula, a research-backed learning approach and high-impact assessment tools, all designed to deepen each student’s understanding.
We follow a learning improvement framework which monitors performance against selected criteria proven to best support student learning. This helps us enhance our approach to have the greatest impact on students’ success.
We believe that there are key life skills that all students need to thrive. These include everything from digital literacy to global awareness.
These skills prepare them to adapt to a rapidly changing world, make informed decisions, and build meaningful relationships, setting a strong foundation for lifelong success and fulfilment.
Our students develop these skills over the course of their school years, through learning experiences inside and outside the classroom.
International learning is part of our schools’ DNA. Our students are encouraged to explore a range of world languages.
We ensure all our students can communicate and collaborate confidently in at least one world language, in addition to their home languages.
As part of iSP, students around the world take part in multicultural and multilingual experiences called International Learning Opportunities for Students (ILOS). Whether it’s becoming a United Nations delegate or directing a film, our programmes open the world to every student.
Every experience encourages students to discover their true interests as they prepare to succeed in today’s global society.
Benefit from iSP’s bespoke university and careers-related programme, Future Pathways, which helps students to make informed choices about their future.
We work with each student to explore their academic skills and interests. Then we bring experts in their field to share practical insights and guide students on their next steps to help them reach their university, college, or career of choice
Most schools talk about what they teach. We focus on how your child learns. Through the Learning.First™ approach, students reflect on their progress, explore new approaches, and make decisions that drive their growth.
Curiosity fuels our learning
The best learning happens when students are actively engaged. We ignite curiosity through hands-on projects and inquiry-based learning, making learning exciting, memorable and full of exploration.
Confidence drives lifelong learning
Our students trust in their abilities, build confidence, and lead their way forward. This mindset helps them believe they can learn and achieve anything, fostering a love for lifelong learning.
The power of 'Good Struggles'
We believe great learning happens just beyond the comfort zone. That’s why we create purposeful challenges, or 'good struggles', that help students stay motivated while they grow. Through these experiences, students build resilience, solve problems, and learn to keep going – even when it’s hard.
Teachers as co-pilots
Learning here is a partnership. Teachers work alongside students as guides, helping them navigate choices, embrace good struggles, inspire those 'aha' Amazing Learning moments of self-discovery, and grow in confidence.
We measure the quality of learning through the International Schools Partnership’s Learning Improvement Process. This framework helps teachers and leaders reflect on what works and adapt quickly to meet each learner’s needs, ensuring every student feels ready to embrace good struggles and succeed.
Informed by evidence gathered through this process, our learning spaces continually evolve to spark curiosity, foster resilience, and prepare students with the skills they need to thrive—not just in school, but in life. Every improvement is guided by what drives real progress for learners.

Learning Pillar 1: Academic achievement
Our schools are clear about the knowledge and skills students need to succeed academically.
Beyond that, our schools are equipped with innovative curricula, a research-backed learning approach and high-impact assessment tools, all designed to deepen each student’s understanding. Continuous improvement is fundamental to ISP.
All our schools follow a learning improvement framework which monitors performance against selected criteria proven to best support student learning. It helps us enhance our approach to have the greatest impact on students’ success.
Cognitive skills
Strong cognitive skills are the foundation for lifelong learning. By honing their ability to think critically, problem-solve, and innovate, students become better equipped to tackle challenges and seize opportunities. These skills empower them to analyze information, make informed decisions, and think creatively, preparing them for success in any field.
"I can lead my own learning through creative problem solving, confident communication and organizing my time and resources"
Curiosity ignites endless possibilities.
When students are curious, they become active learners, eager to explore new ideas and challenge the status quo. Curiosity drives them to ask questions, seek answers, and think critically, fostering a deeper understanding of the world around them. By nurturing curiosity in the classroom, our teachers empower students to become innovative problem-solvers, creative thinkers, and lifelong learners.
Learning Pillar 2: Multilingualism
International learning is part of our schools’ DNA. Our students are encouraged to explore a range of world languages. We ensure all our students can communicate and collaborate confidently in at least one world language (usually English, Mandarin, Arabic, Spanish or French), in addition to their home languages.
Self-Leadership skills
Self-leadership is the ability to take charge of one's own learning and well-being. By developing self-awareness, self-regulation, and a growth mindset, students become resilient and motivated learners. These skills empower them to set goals, overcome obstacles, and persevere in the face of challenges, leading to lifelong success and fulfillment.
"I can manage my emotions and identify my areas for growth, using my motivation and resilience to set goals and take steps to achieve them."
At ISP, learning means improving every day.
It’s about progress, not perfection—empowering our students, teachers, and schools to reach their full potential. Through our global expertise, personalized approaches, and innovative programs like Learning First™ and the ISP Learning Improvement Process (The LIP), we ensure every learner grows in confidence, curiosity, and capability. By embracing challenges and celebrating progress, we nurture future-ready individuals who thrive in and beyond the classroom, in partnership with parents, students, and educators.
Learning Pillar 3: Life competencies
We believe that there are some key life skills that all students need to thrive. These include everything from digital literacy to global awareness.
ISP students develop these skills over the course of their school years, through learning experiences inside and outside the classroom
Digital skills
In today's digital age, digital literacy is paramount. By mastering essential digital skills, such as coding, data analysis, and digital citizenship, students can become confident and responsible users of technology. These skills empower them to access information, communicate effectively, and create innovative solutions, preparing them for the demands of the 21st-century workforce.
"I can use digital tools and technology safely and responsibly to create, collaborate and innovate"
Learning Pillar 4: International opportunities
Every year, ISP students around the world take part in multicultural and multilingual experiences called International Learning Opportunities for Students (ILOS). Whether it’s becoming a United Nations delegate or directing a film, ILOS programmes open the world to every student. Every ILOS experience encourages students to discover their true interests as they prepare to succeed in today’s global society.
Global skills
Global citizenship fosters a sense of responsibility and interconnectedness with the world. By developing intercultural understanding, critical thinking, and a commitment to social justice, students become informed and engaged global citizens. These skills empower them to contribute to a more just and sustainable future, addressing global challenges and promoting peace and cooperation.
"I am curious about and respectful of different countries and cultures, and engage with local and global issues to take action for the wellbeing of people and planet"
Confidence is the fuel that drives lifelong learning.
When students believe in their abilities, they are more inclined to embrace challenges, take risks, and persevere through setbacks. Confidence empowers them to step out of their comfort zones, explore new ideas, and pursue opportunities for growth. By fostering a supportive and encouraging learning environment, our educators can help ISP students build self-assurance, enabling them to reach their full potential. Confidence isn’t something you’re born with or without — it’s grown.
Embracing the good struggle
A key concept in our methodology is the idea of the ‘good struggle.’ We define this as the process of learning that is challenging yet rewarding, where students feel a sense of progress and achievement.
At ISP we’ve developed our own shared learning language to support conversations, using simple terms to describe the learning journey. For example, we talk about ‘treading water’ when a student is not experiencing progress, or ‘drowning’ when they feel overwhelmed and lost in their learning. These relatable terms make it easier for students, teachers, and parents to have meaningful discussions about learning and progress.
Interpersonal skills
Interpersonal skills are the key to building strong relationships and working effectively with others. By developing their communication, empathy, and teamwork abilities, students learn to collaborate, resolve conflicts, and build consensus. These skills are essential for success in both personal and professional life, enabling them to navigate diverse social situations and forge meaningful connections.
"I can build positive relationships with others and work effectively as part of a team to achieve common goals."
Learning Pillar 5: Future Pathways
ISP’s bespoke university and careers-related programme, Future Pathways, helps students to make informed choices about their future.
We work with each student to explore their academic skills and interests.
Then we bring experts in their field to share practical insights and guide students on their next steps to help them reach their university, college, or career of choice.
