At Sekolah Sri Tenby Penang, we use our Learning.First™; approach to foster transformative learning by encouraging students to challenge themselves, build resilience and reach their full potential. Whether through academics, social activities, or personal growth, we aim to develop life skills that help students succeed beyond school. Our Secondary students follow the Malaysian National Secondary School Standard Curriculum (KSSM) from Forms 1 to 5, preparing for key exams such as the SPM in Form 5. This paves the way for further education at prestigious universities globally.
During the student's time in our National Secondary School students will study the following core subjects.
Students develop the ability to use the National language effectively for practical communication. The subject is based on the linked language skills of listening, reading, speaking and writing, and these are built on as learners progress through their studies.
Students get to build their ability to communicate clearly, accurately and effectively when speaking and writing. They'll also develop more general analysis and communication skills such as inference, and the ability to order facts and present opinions effectively.
The syllabus of the subject places a strong emphasis on solving problems in mathematics and real-life contexts which promotes appropriate presentation and interpretation of results, encouraging learners’ understanding of how to communicate and reason mathematically.
Students learn and apply the basic principles and concepts that are fundamental to science, some current applications of biology, chemistry and physics, with a strong emphasis on practical skills.
The KSSM Sejarah syllabus aims to create a spirit of unity, a sense of belonging, and national awareness and strengthen the feeling of love for the country. Students are taught to understand the characteristics of history so that they can build their critical and analytical thinking skills.
Moral studies being one of the most important subjects in the National Curriculum, aims to instill moral values and good ethics among students. It also tests the understanding of students about the contemporary issues.
SPM Pendidikan Islam allows students to deepen their understanding of Islamic teachings, from beliefs and practices to moral values and history.
During the student's time in our Secondary School students will study the following compulsory subjects.
Students connect sports theory and practical skills with the emphasise on mental focus, while helping them to excel in a variety of sports and teaching them the value of discipline, goal-setting, and perseverance in achieving success.
SPM Geography dives deep into the study of Earth's physical features, resources and students will learn how to examine landscapes, climates, and the impact of human activity on the environment.
Students get to transform concepts and ideas into practical designs, and learn the fundamentals of design, materials and problem-solving to create functional solutions.
Students will get to explore their artistic talents, from drawing and painting to digital design. The subject empowers students to convey messages, inspire and provoke though, all while creating meaningful and impactful artworks.
During the student's time in our upper secondary (Forms 4-5) students can opt for the following elective subjects.

Emotional support at Sekolah Sri Tenby
At The Learning Centre in Sekolah Sri Tenby, we are committed to supporting students' Social, Emotional, and Mental Health (SEMH). Our team of specialist staff provides personalized counselling for students aged 8 to 17 who may be facing personal challenges. Our counselling approach is highly collaborative, involving parents, teachers, and caregivers to create a strong support network around the student. By working together to identify the root causes of any issues and offering effective solutions, we aim to remove negative influences while strengthening the student’s internal coping skills. This holistic support encourages students to experience more positive relationships with family, friends, and school, and builds their resilience to navigate challenges and celebrate their successes.
School trips
School trips are an exciting way to bring learning to life beyond the classroom! A highlight for our secondary students is the end-of-year field trip, along with the endurance cross-country event and immersive heritage walk. These adventures are not only packed with fun but also offer invaluable opportunities for students to build strong friendships, grow in independence, and discover new perspectives. Each trip is a chance to create unforgettable memories while gaining meaningful experiences that extend learning far beyond the school walls!

House communities
Our whole campus House System provides children with opportunities to be rewarded for their efforts outside the classroom, where they can earn House Points for their participation in areas such as Collaboration, Critical Thinking, Character, Community, Creativity. Our four house groups are Ledang, Tahan, Kinabalu and Jerai.
