As changemakers, the amazing IGCSE Global Perspectives students embarked on a mission to address the pressing issue of ‘Refugees in Penang’ within the context of ‘Migration and Urbanisation’. Their journey comprised two components: raising awareness and engaging in meaningful community service.
To raise awareness, they orchestrated an assembly, shedding light on the plight of refugees in our local community. They then held a bake sale along with a non-uniform day, rallying support from their schoolmates, raising funds, and donating 45 laptop bags to support Selfless Together, a non-governmental organisation (NGO) on the island.
Diving deeper into their commitment to community service, they organised an outreach day for Rohingya children, where they immersed themselves in an array of STEAM – Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts and Mathematics activities such as robotics and science experiments.
The project reinforced the Tenby Schools community’s belief in the transformative power of collective action and compassion. Together, we can make a difference.
